Screen Stencil Making Process for Oval Screen Printing Machine
Process overview: Stretching → Degreasing → Photo-emulsion Coating → Exposure → Developing → Retouching & Blocking
Principle: Stretch mesh tightly onto the frame. By exposure and developing of photo emulsion, create open areas for ink penetration.
Steps
1. Frame Preparation & Mesh Stretching
Select frames and mesh (polyester / stainless steel; mesh count based on printing detail). Stretch mesh to target tension (18–25 N/cm²) with a stretcher. Bond mesh to frame with adhesive and trim excess mesh.
2. Degreasing
Clean mesh surface with degreaser to remove oil and dust for better emulsion adhesion.
3. Photo Emulsion Coating
Coat photo emulsion evenly on both sides of mesh in darkroom, then dry. Typical emulsion thickness: 5–8 μm.
4. Exposure
Place film positive tightly against the mesh. Cure non-image areas under UV light. Exposure time: 30–120 seconds, varies by light source and emulsion type.
5. Developing
Wash the stencil with water. Uncured emulsion on graphic areas rinses away to open mesh holes.
6. Retouching & Blocking
Inspect stencil, repair pinholes and defects with block-out emulsion. Re-exposure for higher durability.
Note: Multi-color designs require one stencil per color. Precise registration of all stencils is critical for accurate color registration on oval printers.
