Product Overview
Bihong custom screen mesh is specially engineered for automatic oval screen printing machines. Made of premium polyester mono filament, it features high tension and low elongation.
It maintains stable tension during continuous cyclic production, eliminating registration shift.
Compatible with Bihong aluminum screen frames, the mesh supports water-based ink, plastisol, high-density, discharge and puff printing, ideal for mass fine-detail apparel printing.
Raw Materials
1. Heat transfer metal foil: Gold stamping foil, silver stamping foil, holographic flake foil (elastic hot-melt adhesive type for sportswear, compatible with spandex stretching)
2. PET carrier film with release layer
3. Fabric: Polyester-spandex yoga fabric, polyester sportswear fabric, taslan / chunya textile for workwear
4. Auxiliaries: Positioning paper, high-temperature masking tape
5. Equipment: Flat heat press machine (common), roll heat transfer machine (for bulk rolls), cutting knife, film positive
Process Flow
Print hot-melt adhesive on PET release film
1. Prepare film positive / cutting die according to customer logo and make screen
2. Screen-print elastic hot-melt adhesive only on logo area of PET release carrier film; no adhesive on blank area
3. Low-temperature oven drying for adhesive layer (do not fully cure, keep hot-melt adhesive thermally activatable)
Combine gold / silver / flake foil
Align metal foil (PET film coated with metallic layer) with PET adhesive film pre-printed with hot-melt adhesive, then perform light pre-lamination.
- Gold foil: Gold metallic coating
- Silver foil: Silver metallic coating (prone to oxidation, hence medium-high durability)
- Flake foil: Shredded holographic metal flakes for sparkling effect
Vietnamese garment workshop
1. Inspection of sportswear / yoga wear cut pieces: Decontaminate and flatten fabric; control fabric humidity (moisture causes foil blistering and peeling)
2. Positioning: Mark logo position on cut pieces with positioning paper. Pre-stretch elastic fabric to prevent logo deformation after garment stretching.
1. Lay materials: Place cut piece on heat press platen. Lay heat transfer metal foil face down (metallic layer towards fabric), PET carrier film on top.
2. Heat press parameters (common in Vietnam for polyester-spandex fabric):
- Temperature: 140~160°C
- Pressure: 0.3~0.5 MPa
- Dwell time: 8~15 seconds
Cold peel is mostly applied for sportswear metal transfer foil:
- After heat pressing, lift press plate. Cool cut piece to ambient temperature before peeling off top PET release carrier film.
- After peeling: Metallic logo stays on fabric, discard PET film.
Optional reinforcement, mandatory for high-end orders
1. Visual check: Missing stamping, foil peeling, blisters, scratches, pattern misalignment. Stretch test: Gently pull fabric and check for metallic layer cracking.
2. Optional secondary low-temperature light press reinforcement (110°C, 3~5s, light or zero pressure) to improve wash fastness, widely used for branded sportswear orders in Vietnam.
3. Cool and rest before sewing to avoid logo damage during sewing tension.
Customer inspection items
- Wash test: ISO 105 C06, sportswear normally requires no foil peeling after 5 washes
- Rub fastness: Dry rub & wet rub test
- Stretch test: Priority for yoga wear, no cracking of metallic layer after stretching
Common Pain Points in Vietnam Sportswear Manufacturing
1. Polyester-spandex yoga fabric: Over-temperature → fabric shrinkage & metal foil cracks; insufficient temperature → foil peeling
2. Silver foil limitation: Darkening after long exposure to washing and sweat, hence medium-high durability. Gold foil has better chemical stability.
3. Sweat resistance: Sportswear exposed to heavy sweat requires sweat-resistant metal foil; regular foil suffers metallic layer corrosion from sweat.
4. Heavy polyester workwear: Insufficient pressure leads to edge foil delamination.
Two Production Modes in Vietnam Factories
1. Purchase ready-made heat transfer stamping foil rolls (Most popular for medium & small garment factories): Upstream film manufacturer completes plate making, hot-melt adhesive printing and metal foil lamination. Garment factory only carries out cut piece positioning, heat pressing, film peeling and inspection.
2. Integrated full process (Large printing factories): In-house full workflow including PET film adhesive printing, metal foil lamination and garment heat pressing for major brand orders.
